I only have five friends and I’d rather make money than waste my time making friends, says Molly Mae Hague
MOLLY-Mae Hague may be a millionaire, but there’s one thing she’s not rich in: her friends.
The former Love Island finalist and creative director of fashion label Pretty Little Thing revealed that she’d rather make money than waste time expanding her social circle.
“My circle is tiny,” she told the Diary Of A CEO podcast.
“I literally have about five people in my circle, and that includes friends.”
The 22-year-old – who is a close friend of fellow Love Island star Maura Higgins – admitted her circle is “absolutely tiny” but that she “likes it like that”.
“I wouldn’t want it any other way,” she said.
“I work, I spend time with my boyfriend and I go to bed.
“It’s literally my life. I don’t care about a social life. It was never something that interested me.”
The health-conscious star says she doesn’t really drink alcohol and isn’t a fan of parties or going out.
“It’s not for me. I prefer to just focus on making money, being successful and being happy,” she said.
“My friends, they come and go and I find it a bit of a waste of time.”
Molly-Mae admits making new friends “takes a long time” and that she “has lost a lot of friends” since appearing on Love Island in 2019.
“It sounds wild, but sometimes friends they just don’t hang on, but they don’t add much,” she said.
“I know it sounds a little wild, but… I’m not that Hitching girl anymore. I’m not that girl who was a lifeguard at Hitching’s pool anymore.
“It’s not me. I live in a different world now and a lot of my friends can’t relate to that.”
Molly-Mae admits, “I’m a little lonely but I like it.”
Molly recently took a hiatus from Instagram amid a rough month which saw the apartment she shares with boyfriend Tommy Fury broken into and £ 800,000 of items stolen, before the boxer was forced to leave his last fight due to injury.
The influencer has never shied away from sharing her feelings with fans and this week broke down talking about Tommy on her YouTube channel.
Molly has been seen telling her fans that Tommy, also 22, is “in so much pain” after being forced to call off his fight with Jake Paul over a health issue.
Molly said, “I don’t like to come on my YouTube channel and tell my troubles and have you say, after this video, ‘that was such a miserable video’.
“But at the same time, I would never come here to paint a nice picture and say to myself ‘things are so great and my life is so perfect’, which is far from being the case now.
“I know you probably want me to come here and be more specific and talk about the fight and what happened, but it’s not my situation to talk about it, it’s the Tommy’s thing.
“I am just here to be his rock and to support him through thick and thin. When you love someone so deeply and they are in so much pain and going through something so bad that you can’t help but feel it yourself. “
Earlier this month, Tommy was forced to end his fight with Jake after suffering a broken rib and a chest infection.
He said: “I took a little clip on the body and because my body was so weak from the virus inside of me… I immediately knew something was wrong.
“I was throwing up in pain, doubled over, literally grabbed my bag and went straight to the hospital, straight for an MRI, and got the results the same day and the results revealed that I had a broken rib and had multiple fractures.
Molly and Tommy suffered another blow this week when new Covid restrictions forced her to cancel their next vacation to Dubai – her Christmas present to him.
She said: “We booked a vacation in the first week of January to go to Dubai for two weeks, at our favorite hotel, and we obviously had to cancel that.
“It was my Christmas present to Tommy so now I’m without a vacation and also stuck with no present for Tommy.”
